Digital Marketing For Small and Mid-sized businesses-Kenya

Read Time: 3.8 Minutes

Let's face it, the world of marketing & advertising is swiftly changing, it's notwhat we were used to.

The amount of money used for making flyers, paying for adv space is justoutrageous, and the results humiliating; and no longer the best way to growyour business. Today, it's a whole different ballgame.

The world is going digital and so should all the businesses.
By having a website and leveraging Social Media platforms like Facebook,Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, you're setting yourself up for the future.

Your customers are on Social Media every day. They eat and drink social media.

A simple example is with me. Before the up rise of citizen journalism, I couldn’t skip a 7 PM or 9 PM bulletins. What about today, I just don’t care whether I watch or not; I get everything online. In fact, you get those news while they are BREAKING!!!

This is already a reality; Businesses are growing from grass to grace through the pure art of understanding why digital marketing is the easiest way to get to where people are hanging out.
Look companies internationally like Airbnb, Alibaba and Amazon, locally there is Jumia, Jazacart, Kilimall etc. These are just but a few big and growing online brands that are raking millions from digital marketing and growth marketing or what other call growth hacking.

Tom Fishburne, a veteran marketer quotes. “The best marketing doesn’t feel like marketing.”
Anton Sepetov, A sales guru at AppSumo and Sumo - in an interview with Noah Kagan. Says that the best kind of marketing is not that you send to a client by email or through a text, or the conversation you have on the phone about your product, it’s the one that makes the client feels confident about the decision they are already going.
This does not happen overnight. I can tell you for free that I wouldn’t buy a product just because I saw it on a billboard on my way to work. This is how myself and many other road users assumes your advert on a billboard;-

The most I can do is visit your website to learn more about you. If your site sucks – I will just turn to the suggested competitors, and Google is very good at suggesting your competitors.
A common phrase you should know is that Google loves you when other people do.
Most probably you might refute my words but when was the last time you searched for something like this:-
Google has given me ten related searches, and only the best seller(s) gets their fair share. If you just create a website and leave it at that point without SEO/SEM or social media marketing, this is how your competitors will be smiling at you while stealing your well-deserved customers.
I am sure you don’t want that, right?
If you want to be among the first adopters of great digital marketing techniques in Kenya just drop a line in the comment button so that we can continue with this conversation.
