A few weeks ago, we were discussing how online shopping has transformed the shopping experience for most people. Apparently, you might have shopped or thought about it.

Anyway, it’s a big deal. So the topic went on until we began analyzing why the occupancy of the new malls in Kenya is experiencing low occupancy rate and the rate by which first online retailers in Kenya such as Jumia Kenya have continually grown their reach.

He gave me a simple example that I believe could be what every business has to deal with especially if it’s a growth driven business.

He told me how his workmate was all over his laptop looking for computer repair online. It’s simple! Please note that. He was looking for computer repairs online.

That how deliberate this has gone, he had a handful of options, but the very first choice was looking for the products online. He never went to a mall or a supermarket or even a computer shop. That’s how physical-only businesses seek to lose by ignoring the modern methods of marketing.

The business world is rapidly growing; small startups are cutting short the standard growth curves by being smart, more specific and learning from the market, not industries.
